Note : We use traditional Kyoto techniques to produce many products that cannot be mass-produced by machine, such as Yuzen and Dyeing. Therefore, depending on the product, there may be slight variations in color and pattern.
The wax dyeing technique (ろうけつ染 ) is ancient, dating back to the Tenpyo period (710-794). In this method, wax is melted and applied to the fabric to prevent specific areas from absorbing the dye entirely. The thickness of the wax can be adjusted to control the color density that permeates the fabric, and the dyed color seeps into the cracks in the dried wax. The unique cracks created by the wax dyeing process are beautifully showcased in the boldly printed "Oiri" design, symbolizing the wish for many people to enter. It's available in two colors: a tranquil 'golden brown' and 'navy blue.' The fabric is 'butcher's cloth,' woven using a combination of plain weave and nanako weave techniques with threads of varying thicknesses, providing a comfortably soft touch.
